Pool Covers Advantages

To avoid accidents in and around the pool that can lead to injury, it is important to invest in essential pool safety products.  Two of the most important and necessary safety products available to any pool owner, especially one with young children, are Fences and Pool Covers.

There are numerous types of pool covers available to any pool owner.  Depending on your needs and budget, there is one that is right for you.  Types of pool covers include manual, semi-automatic, and automatic.  Despite their initial investment, pool covers reduce maintenance costs, preserve energy, prevent the excess evaporation of pool water, and provide for the option of solar heating, justifying the cost of the cover in the first place.

If a perimeter fence is not desired, as it isolates the swimming Pool from the rest of the backyard, a pool cover is what you will desire.  In addition to the reduction of long-term costs, and the beneficial environmental factors noted above, a pool cover is a strong line of defense against swimming pool accidents.  Improvements in swimming pool covers have allowed for them to be installed without the need for reducing the water level.  Options include elevated walls, freeform designs, and other pool features.

Just like pools themselves, pool covers are available in a variety of shapes and sizes in order to provide the best fit possible.  There is no reason why you should not have a pool cover, considering they provide safety, are environmentally efficient, and help keep your pool clean.

The following are a few factors to consider when purchasing a swimming pool cover.

1.      The pool cover you choose should be strong, very strong.  Its purpose is to maintain a clean and healthy pool, and keep your family safe.  It should prevent undesired dirt, debris, and people out of the pool.

2.      Prior to purchasing a pool cover, refer to your state and local laws, as they require certain criteria be met pertaining to swimming pool covers.

3.      Make sure the pool cover you want to purchase includes a warranty.  Generally, you want your pool cover to have a warranty for a minimum of two years against defect.

4.      Make sure the size of the cover you choose exceeds the perimeter of your pool.  This allows you to safely and correctly anchor your cover, preventing any of the surface from being exposed.

5.      Upon receiving your new Swimming pool cover, make sure that all parts have been included.  This will ensure that your cover can be installed properly.  For larger covers, an anchor or other securing device should be installed roughly every four feet.  If this is not the case, contact the manufacturer.

Safety should be your top priority, follow all accompanying directions carefully for in ground as well as above ground pools.  Secondly, ensure your new cover adheres to state and local law.  Thirdly, enjoy!
